Milan, 27 February 2025 – Marcelo Botelho Pupo has been appointed as head of the Brazilian Desk of Bernoni Grant Thornton, the Italian member firm of the international consultancy network Grant Thornton International Ltd, specialized in tax, corporate, advisory, IT, and outsourcing services.

With this new role, Marcelo Botelho Pupo joins Grant Thornton Italy’s Private Clients & Family Business team, where, as head of the Brazilian desk, he will assist inbound and outbound clients from and to Brazil. The Brazilian desk is aimed at providing legal and tax assistance to new residents and inpatriates, as well as individuals and companies having cross-border interests between Brazil and Europe, with a particular focus on Italy.

Marcelo Botelho Pupo is a lawyer with proven experience in domestic and international tax consultancy and in tax litigation procedures in favour of Brazilian and multinational companies. Before joining Bernoni Grant Thornton, he acquired over 20 years of experience in major consultancy companies in Brazil. 

His areas of experience include: tax litigation in Brazil, tax planning and immigration for Brazilian individuals intending to move to foreign countries, domestic and international wealth planning focussed on the organisational efficiency of family wealth for succession purposes and on the development of business activities in Brazil and abroad, including company purchase and sale processes.

He is a Professor of Tax Law at the Faculdade Padre Anchieta de Ensino, a member of the Board of Tax Law and Public Finance at the Institute of Lawyers of São Paulo (IASP) and a full member of STEP Brazil and IR Global. 

As Head of the Brazilian Desk of Bernoni Grant Thornton, Botelho Pupo will collaborate closely with Alessandro Dragonetti, Managing Partner and Head of Tax, in the development of the market segment including clients having interests in Brazil and in Europe, relying on the support of the Italian Desk at Grant Thornton Brazil’s offices in São Paulo.
