Diego Pagliai

Diego joined Bernoni Grant Thornton in February 2011 and currently works as Associate Partner within the Business Tax Services team dealing mainly with corporate tax law.

Diego received his degree in Business Economics and Legislation from Luigi Bocconi University in Milan. He specialised in corporate tax law by attending international taxation courses at IBFD – Amsterdam (“Interpretation and application of tax treaties” and “Principles of transfer pricing”) and a course in tax litigation (IPSOA).

Diego has acquired significant experience in tax and corporate matters. From 2002 to 2011, he worked at Pirola Pennuto Zei & Associati (member firm of the PwC network until 2006), where he acquired extensive experience in assisting multinational groups and providing M&A services.

From 2005 to 2006 he worked on secondment as tax manager at a primary telecommunications company and subsequently at a multi-utility group.

His expertise includes, among others:

  • corporate tax (domestic and international);
  • M&A transactions (also cross-border);
  • tax litigation.

His industry specialties include among others:

  • fashion & luxury;
  • mass retailers;
  • food & beverage;
  • technology, media and communication;
  • finance (holdings & money transfer).

Diego is a Certified Chartered Accountant and Registered Auditor in Milan. He is also member of the “Tax Litigation” and “Direct and Indirect tax” Committees at the Milan Association of Chartered Accountants.

Diego is co-author of the chapters "Interests and financial income (inbound and outbound)" and "World tax consolidation regime" of "Manuale di fiscalità internazionale" (International Tax Manual), which is the best-selling International direct/indirect Tax Manual in the Italian market, currently at its 9th edition. He is also speaker at conferences on direct taxation.
