Migration flows: causes, effects and the Italian case

There are many factors that affect the choice of the destination country by non-residents for their relocation. These factors can be clustered into three main categories: geopolitical and social, personal, and juridical.

In recent years, migratory flows have increased due to economic, geographical, demographic and political factors. The main destination countries are the United States, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, France, Canada, Australia, Spain and Italy.

In particular, High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) move from China to the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Singapore, Canada, Australia, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Portugal and Japan. Italy, specifically, attracts many millionaires thanks to tax advantages such as the so-called "Neo Residenti" regime, which offers an annual flat rate of 100,000 euros for income produced abroad.
